While I
riced another head of cauliflower, affixing the processor’s lid, & lining
up the markings & groves in so that the processor’s lid would clip into
place, I fondly recalled an incident where Mom had forgotten to put the blender’s
lid in place & Dad happily took it upon himself to grab the family camera (no
mobile phones, or their cameras back then) & photograph the new kitchen
display. The nearest cabinets were covered the most, & with her batter
being white, the batter showed up quite well on the dark brown cupboard doors.
Plenty was on the countertop too, though it was much easier to clean up, it
being the countertop & all, & the countertop was a creamy light yellow,
so the batter’s color didn’t offset it much.
There were other measuring devices about
as well in addition to stirring & scooping utensils. Most everything had
some dropping of batter lessening its cleanness. It was one of those, a-mistake-was-made-&-the-kids-didn’t-make-it
“big moments”. These were cherishable moments.
Whenever I’ve any difficulties affixing
lids atop appliances, or I cannot get an on/off switch to activate until the
container & lid are properly mounted & in place, or any other
frustrations come over me, I look back on this moment in appreciation knowing
that my current moment could become “photo worthy” had the product’s engineers
designed the current model in any other way.
