Bringing on the Fruit Fly Parade

Whenever we'd be camping for at least a week, maybe ten days, we'd set up a bit more. Especially if our trip had us camping at the same campground the entire time. There were a few campgrounds we'd come to enjoy for such a purpose. It was while camping at these campgrounds for an extended time frame that we tried our hands at this. We also, well I guess you could call it decorating. Yes, we "decorated" more. These aside, we also had a few of these, which assisted us as most hanging wall shelves do when someone decorates & organizes their home.

We had one like this above the kitchenette's sink, which sometimes would include our sandwich buns or part of a loaf of bread. It was one of the few out-of-the-way locations which we could take advantage of for some vertical organization. We had one like this near the door for odds & ends, though the one we had was white. We also had something like this, which was made entirely of particle board, where we'd line up our herbs & spices & related condiments, or anything small enough to suite the situation. When we'd be on the move & not set up at a site, this particle board shelf was one of the items that could fit on its side & slide along in the small space left between the collapsed kitchenette & the pantry cabinets lined up underneath our clothes counter. When the kitchenette was in place, as we couldn't hang up everything, the particle board had a catch on part of the bottom portion where it would essentially stop itself from sliding into the campers fabric net windows by positioning itself atop the railing that was the lever for collapsing kitchenette as well as pulling it upright.

"Surviving" with these basics had a fun & educational element all its own. Our apples & bananas didn't need a hanging basket, neither did our hamburgers, hot dogs, or grilled chicken sandwich buns. We certainly didn't need these things to survive our meals or our camping trip, yet we also learned how to take the simplicity of a random spice or two & appreciate its ability to make our meals a little more special, a little more flavorful.
