Alternate post title: "O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree" ♫♬🎜🎝 (are ya singing? click here)😉
Or should it be; "Tall, Dark, & Handsome"? 😉 The song could be, "What a man, what a man, what a very fine man." 😂 (click here on that one)
Enough with songs & alternate post titles. 😂
We only had one tree in our house as a kid. It came back out of the same ratty old box we'd put it back in year after year (the one it got picked up in when it got purchased from the store, cause that's how our family does it 😏😁). Everything, every year came back out of the same ratty cardboard or plastic piece in which it had originated from the store; it was a never ending cycle.
On that tree's branches, at their inner core, were paint markings. These markings indicated in which section along the tree's trunk they're meant to be inserted for proper hanging; later, for floofing. And they wanted to have a "theme" tree, so all of the ornaments had come from a kit which Mom had sewn together. Any repairs each year? Set aside a pile as we'd go & Mom would contribute to the decorating-the-tree process by stitching them back on up; oftentimes it was just that the string of yarn to affix the plush ornament to the tree's branch needed to be accordingly rejoined. Even so, this turned into an annual pattern such as what it was.
We'd occasionally receive other ornaments, & we did own some such as "Baby's First Christmas" & the like. These hung in other areas, maybe from the dining room chandelier (it sounds bizarre, yet it looked just fine, I swear 😂); still others eventually grew to a collection enough that miniature, or much shorter versions of trees were found on clearance in order to annually display these assemblages.
At this point during Advent, had we not found time yet among school & our other scheduling to assemble the Christmas tree, Mom would be itching to do so & would likely mention it to Dad with us kids present, while at the dinner table, before the evening got to be too far underway.
Dad would smack his lips & nod affirmatively. We'd prepare to work together & make it happen. It could be pretty exhausting. Dad really liked that tree though; I believe he's the reason we had that tree.
In that first house, as an adult, while earning the money I needed in order to purchase the bay window that would adorn the front of my house, I happened on finding this which just needed a bit of floofing. 😂 And I'd be all set to go. It turned out to be just my style. Except I thought to add this, which in my meticulous nature, I'd spend quite some time belittling the spacing in so that it wouldn't be awkwardly "all lined up", & yet also not too "out of line"; it was laboresque & a fine line each time.
While the tree Mom & Dad had displayed one of these year after year, what I'd happened upon for mine was one of these.
Without even trying, I'd managed to set up something quite eloquent, yet simple; something practical, no ornaments necessary, & just about 6' tall 😍 (the topper adds more height 😎).
