The Wheels on the Bus Go Round & Round

And so, after packing this & this full of things I'd need (& lots of things I wouldn't need too! 😂) for the following three weeks, I boarded a Greyhound bus to take me across the county (well, not the entire way; just two time zones!) to get to the local airport & pick up my rental vehicle. Then I'd be set to just finish mentally preparing myself & acclimating myself to the area.

My plan was to take the bus (because it was the cheapest way to go) to one of the remaining states where I'd yet to run a marathon, & after running it, wait there for about two weeks, drive across the state's border & run another marathon before driving back to the original state to return the rental vehicle & hop aboard the Greyhound bus back to my home base.

Due to suggestions not to take the Greyhound (because I wouldn't get where I wanted to be on time), I set my departure date two days before I'd originally planned to be there & nearly an entire additional day when considering packet pick-up. What I'd not considered was my set date for my vehicle rental pick-up. To keep this saga moving along, let's just say that, in the end, picking up the vehicle rental did work out.

So, how about that Greyhound trip, you ask?! 😁 Actually, as I'm an extrovert, & in about the mid-range age of a likely passenger, I did quite well. Just like with certain things we purchase in our everyday lives thinking we'll likely hardly use them, or they've been purchased for a separate intention & ultimately get used for other reasons plenty often as well, such is the case with two items I did pack.

I found myself highly advised to essentially pack these & these. Well, what I was actually highly advised was to pack for hotter temperatures than my usual familiarity, even though it was July. My warm weather comfort clothes are these & these. So, that's what I packed. And in abundance.

As a "just in case" I packed a lightweight pair of these. Also because they've a drawstring, which can be an unexpected, welcome luxury on occasion. At least I'd have one pair of something other than the above everyday-wear. I, of course, had no idea that wearing them, first & foremost, on the bus would become paramount. Sometimes the a/c can be that uncontrollable.

Then there's this thin long-sleeve. Another something that I'd packed that I almost didn't even own in the first place. I had a coupon at a craft store. They had a bin of these & since I found one in blue that was my size, I figured, sure - I needed to spend a certain amount of money to get the discount & this long-sleeve would help me make that number. A complete last minute addition. Didn't even think to include it in my overhead bin bag. Oh! How I suffered that first night on the bus. Only way I could figure out to doze off, even for a little bit, was to tuck both of my forearms into the short sleeves of my t-shirt & keep kind of cozy that way. It was so rough, though the lesson was learned.

Of course it was because of the great concern of Mom & Dad to make sure & emphasize the importance of having one of these dangling from everything I took with me. Would you know, the manufacturer has updated them too - they've added a line for the owner's email address. Bonus! (Or, Bonus? 😏)
