Years ago I received a ficus tree as a gift. At the time it wasn't the most practical thing for me to have around, yet I kept it, with plans to incorporate it somehow. After all, I'm a big fan of all things "nature" & a ficus tree would do well in a wood-themed or similar space. Besides, unlike now-a-days, I lacked the talent & ability to release unnecessary items such as these from my possession. The thought always lingered that I might need it (or be able to use it) someday. The space I had to decorate had numerous rooms, quite a few more than were truly necessary for my needs (& one of the reasons that space is no longer mine).
When I first received the tree, I think the first place I put it (read: left it) was the room at the back of the house; it would have come inside via the door right next to where it sat. This room had a bunch of furniture pieces in it already. With some simple shifting around, the room remained both walkable & useable.
Eventually this space needed to be walled in naturally. Desks & bookshelves already filled the space, now they formed a line so as to block vision from the hallway into the center. A corner existed & a ficus tree filled it. Naturally.
